LiveFresh recycling and using rPET bottles is an important step for our startup to contribute to a cleaner earth. Find out how it works and how you can help us here!
How we recycle our packaging
NEW: Bottles made from 100% recycled PET bottles
So far we have used normal PET bottles. These were recyclable, but we were not yet satisfied. Why can't PET bottles simply be reused? Like a kind of cycle? Our new rPET bottles allow us to do just that! They are made of 100% recycled PET and come to us as new bottles through the recycling process. rPET is central to our sustainability aspirations and allows us to use natural resources sparingly.
What is rPET?
You are probably familiar with the term PET. It is polyethylene terephthalate - a plastic of the polyester family. rPET, on the other hand, is an abbreviation for recycled PET, which has already been used for packaging. The recycled bottles are cleaned, crushed, melted and processed into a new bottle. This allows resources to be conserved. In the production of rPET, it is possible to skip several energy-intensive processing steps, which can reduce CO2 emissions.
All you have to do is put the bottles properly into the recycling collection, e.g. the yellow bin or the yellow bag.
What does rPET have to do with the color of the bottles?
You can imagine the production of rPET as a cycle. Old bottles are processed into new ones, which in turn are processed into new bottles. The more often a bottle finds its way into this cycle, the darker the colour of the bottle.
If you've known our products for a while, you may have wondered about the color of the juices. But don't worry, this is only due to the colour of the new rPET bottle. Nothing has changed in terms of quality and taste.
Why don't we use glass?
In order to keep our juices and shots fresh and to preserve the nutrients and taste, we preserve them with our special HPP high-pressure process. Compared to pasteurization (heating) of juices, no valuable nutrients are killed. With HPP, the bottles are subjected to a pressure of up to 6000 bar. Glass bottles would simply shatter. For comparison: The water pressure at the deepest point of the ocean is about 1000 bar.
By the way, you can also recycle your packaging!
To bring our juices and shots to your home with the best possible quality, we use insulated packaging and, in summer, cooling pads.
You can either dispose of the packaging properly yourself or simply send it back to us. This way we can reuse them and contribute to the protection of the environment.
Dispose of the rPET bottles in the yellow bag (green dot / recycling bin). In this way, they are fed into the recycling loop.
2. the bottles are processed into granulate and from this new rPET bottles are produced.
1. collect the cooling foil and the cooling packs.
2. as soon as you have several cooling foils together, go to the return portal.
Create your return label here and send the packaging back to us.
4. we can reuse the cooling film and cooling packs to save the environment.
